Cyber insurance: when the systems stop, so does the business.
Incident response, business interruption, cyber extortion and data liability — in a standalone policy.
Cyber insurance covers incident response costs (IT forensics, lawyers, communications), loss from business interruption, cyber extortion and liability to third parties for leaked data. A cyber clause on a property policy usually does not cover these risks.

Seven questions about your cyber policy.
Questions and answers
Doesn’t the property policy cover cyber losses?
Usually not — cyber events are excluded or covered with very low sublimits. A standalone policy is needed.
Is cyber insurance compulsory?
Not by law. Cybersecurity requirements (for example under NIS2) do not require insurance, but a policy covers the financial consequences of an incident.
What measures do insurers require?
Most often: multi-factor authentication, offline backups, timely updates and endpoint protection.
